12Shakib is a seasoned IT professional with 17 years of experience in working for several multinational companies, international NGOs, Donor Agencies as well as core IT solution companies. He completed his graduation in Computer Science from North South University and later received an MBA from the same.
Shakib’s career started as an Oracle Certified Professional, working for Softnet Ltd, a local IT solution /training company back in 1999. In 2001 he joined EVOKNOW, a US-based Open Source Solution company headquartered in Sacramento, California. Working his way up to a senior management role, the company grew significantly, from a six person company to fifty plus engineers working in two shifts.
In 2007 Shakib joined UNDP’s e-Government initiative operational at Ministry of Planning (Assistance to SICT Project) and the Prime Minister’s Office (Access to Information Programme). As part of the core technical team he was responsible for analyzing requirements, designing and presenting solution, selection and management of vendor as well as overall management of numerous projects that were being undertaken at different ministries /agencies as part of Quick Win initiatives with support of A2I Programme. His long-term involvement with Ministry of Planning resulted in development of four major applications digitizing the complete development planning sector of government including project planning, resource allocation and utilization monitoring (ADP) and foreign aid management (for ERD). Shakib’s key contribution also included Digitization of Consular Services at Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Foreign Missions which is expected to impact millions of expatriates living abroad and receiving services. Shakib also was the lead technical consultant for Integrated Education Management System, a flagship project of Ministry of Education to streamline and digitize all education related services, exam and result management for all Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education into one single platform.  Additionally, Shakibwas involved with the preparation of several ICT policies including National ICT Policy 2009, Information Security Guideline 2011, Bangladesh ICT (Amendment) Act 2013 and e-Governance Interoperability Framework 2013.
Shakib also worked for World Bank as Technical Consultant for Information Commission (RTI App) and the Cabinet Division (Annual Performance Appraisal Management System).
Since August 2015,Shakib is working as the Country IT Head for Siemens Bangladesh Limited where he is responsible for leading and managing all IT operations at the head office as well as the project sites around the country. He is also part of the regional Account Management and Business Engagement team for Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa (AAE) which proactively understands, captures, assesses business requirements, identifies opportunities to improve business results by offering respective solutions and ensures their timely implementation across the region.
